As told to Agly Uncle:
I spent almost 4.5 yrs of my "jawan" life
in the city of Chennai...then known as Madras. It was my first encounter and
exposure to the Southern World of India.Till then I didnt know the
differences between a "Mallu",'Golti","Kannadiga", and a "Tamilian".
First impression of Chennai:
Tooooo hot and
sultry! Not that Mumbai was any different but then I had just returned from
a brief stint abroad and was still flying high!! :)
What I liked about Chennai:
What I didn't like about Chennai:
-
Extreme emphasis and rivalry on the basis
of caste!
-
Too much of Reservation system in all
institutions!
-
Fanatics w.r.t the Tamil Film Industry!-I
mean imagine having a temple built for a mortal like Khushboo.....Booo!!!
and not to forget the following that Superstar Rajnikanth had and still
continues to do so!
-
Politicians.....they are all the same and
yet the literate ppl continue to vote for them. And i must mention the Huge
Kingsize Hoardings and Cut outs of these Mahaan politicians!
-
Weather!
-
Language barrier-I think its high time that
resident people realise that Hindi is the national language of our country
and they oughta learn it. All "outsiders" have to learn the not-so-easy
language! And those who know hindi pretend not to know it!
-
Coum river-it stinks!
-
Mosquitoes
